What is the Healthy Incentives Program?
The Healthy Incentives Program provides monthly incentives to SNAP households when they purchase fresh, local, healthy vegetables and fruits from Massachusetts farmers at farmers markets, farm stands, CSAs, and mobile markets. HIP was designed to serve the needs of low-income families in Massachusetts as well as support the local economy. The money spent at these retailers is immediately added back to the customers SNAP card, and can be spent at any SNAP retailer.
