Come join GTC and the Springfield Food Policy Council this Saturday, May 11 for our annual Plant Sale and Gardener's Gathering, 9 am - 1 pm, at GTC's Farm at 200 Walnut St. in Springfield. The event will be held RAIN or SHINE!  We will have a large tent to make it a bit easier on our shoppers given our rainy spring weather this year. Plenty of free parking available!

Come meet your neighbors, learn something new, and celebrate spring!

We will have a wide selection of healthy vegetable and fruit starts (young plants ready to go in the ground) for sale, along with many herbs, flowers and a few houseplants, just in time for Mother's Day.  Wrapped gift plants will also be available, starting at $5. Prices range from $2.00 - $4.00 for seedlings to $25.00 for a beautiful, overflowing hanging basket.

Come check out the free workshops organized by the Springfield Food Policy Council between 10 am and 12 pm.  Topics will include:
  • Working with transplants
  • Medicinal herbs
  • Soil fertility and health (learn how to make sure your soil is safe for growing)
  • Pruning your vegetable plants
  • Juicing 101
  • Growing greens in 14 days
  • Getting a city owned lot to start a community garden

GTC's Farm Store will be also be open featuring GTC grown pesticide-free lettuce, spinach, cilantro, and chives along with veggies and fruit from other farms and other delicious grains and speciality items. We will also have our new line of spring T-shirts available!  We accept cash, debit, credit and SNAP benefits for payment.  You can use your SNAP benefits to purchase any vegetable, fruit or herb plant in addition to food items!

NEW plant offerings this year: Cauliflower, Celery, Rainbow Swiss Chard, Leeks, Poblano Peppers, Rosa Bianca Eggplant, White Star Eggplant, Chocolate Mint and many more!  We are also offering many of last year's favorites, such as Basil, Thyme, Strawberries, Sweet Green Peppers, Gandules, Heirloom tomatoes, Kale, Sun gold Cherry Tomatoes, and Lavender!
