Join us as we continue to build our Walnut Street Farm, the first community-owned urban agriculture space in the region.

We are bringing more access and equity to our damaged food system, while re-generating a beautiful green space in the heart of Mason Square. We bought this land from the City of Springfield in 2014 so that we could control our own destiny and invest in long term soil health and infrastructure.
Last spring, we asked you to take root with us as we began this process. Since then, thanks to the support of many, we constructed a beautiful, passive solar greenhouse, installed an irrigation system, and began bringing health back to the soil.

How are we going to grow our Walnut Street Farm this year? With your support, we will:

■ Build our first 16 growing beds so we can provide more delicious vegetables for our neighbors!

■ Construct a cold storage unit so that our fruits and vegetables stay fresh longer

■ Create a composting area Begin to build a permanent, youth-run farm stand which will open up healthy, affordable food access to hundreds of families.

"Owning this land is...a reclamation of what was once ours...This land is our promise that we have taken root, that we are here to stay"

                                   -Liz Wills-O'Gilvie, GTC Board Chair

Thank you for helping us create food justice and powerful youth leaders in Springfield!
